COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, April 15, 2026 — Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Space ISAC) announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NATO’s Space Theatre Component (STC). The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation to support the security and resilience of the space domain.
This cooperation enables increased coordination between Allied nations, industry, and government stakeholders in addressing evolving cyber and physical threats to space systems in support of NATO’s collective defense and multi-domain operations. The MOU provides a foundation for information sharing, operational collaboration, and mutual support across the space sector.
The MOU was signed following a visit by NATO representatives to Space ISAC’s headquarters in Colorado Springs, which included a tour of the Watch Center and Cyber Vulnerability Lab. These capabilities support Space ISAC’s role in providing threat monitoring, analysis, and information sharing to its global member community.
According to Erin Miller, Executive Director of Space ISAC, “This agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening coordination across the space community. By working with NATO Space Theatre Component, we are supporting efforts to improve information sharing and enhance the collective ability to address risks to critical space infrastructure.”
Furthermore, Daniel Hilgert, Head of Space Section at NATO HQ’s Defence Industry, Innovation and Armaments Division stated, “This agreement builds on NATO’s new commercial space strategy. It is a concrete step towards strengthening NATO’s partnership with the commercial sector and enhancing our resilience. It will ensure that together we can withstand and quickly recover from any challenge to the critical space systems we rely on every day.”
This collaboration brings together complementary capabilities. Space ISAC provides operational support through its Watch Center and threat intelligence sharing, while NATO’s Space Theatre Component contributes expertise in operational space coordination, doctrine development, training, analysis, and strategic advisory functions. These efforts support a more coordinated approach to addressing risks in the space domain.
