Space ISAC AI/ML Community Publishes MLSecOPs White Paper

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, August 15, 2023 — The Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center’s (Space ISAC) artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) Community today published a whitepaper titled Machine Learning Security Operations – MLSecOps, which provides insight and considerations for using trustworthy AI and machine learning security operations to guard the function of national space assets.

“Fortifying our machine learning systems with MLSecOps will move us toward greater space resiliency and open new possibilities as the demand for secure, reliable AI technologies in space continues to grow,” said Michelle Archuleta Ph.D., RS21 Director of Data Science and coauthor of the paper. “The collaboration between members of the Space ISAC community is enabling critical conversations to accelerate the adoption and efficacy of MLSecOps.”

“MLSecOps is a game-changer. The framework provides all the best practices and tools required to sustain and establish trust, security and reliability by capturing the data-centric rather than code-centric operational philosophy of AI/ML technologies,” says Max Spolaor, Ph.D., senior engineering specialist at The Aerospace Corporation.

As the space industry grows, AI and ML solutions are becoming essential for secure operations and strategic advantages. The Space ISAC AI/ML Community is focused on the intersection between AI technologies, cybersecurity and space infrastructure, striving to provide guidance for improving space infrastructure security through trustworthy AI technologies.
