UK Space Agency Partners with Space ISAC 

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, April 11, 2024 Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Space ISAC) is pleased to announce its official partnership with the UK Space Agency. This significant development will immediately impact international collaboration in the Space industry. 

 

The Space ISAC and UK Space Agency partnership will enhance Space ISAC’s international government relationships and further our shared goal of securing global space. The UK Space Agency, an executive agency sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, focuses on understanding the Universe and protecting our planet and outer space. This partnership marks another incredible step in expanding Space ISAC’s reach and influence in the global space community. 

 

According to Space ISAC’s Executive Director, Erin Miller, “We are thrilled to formalize our partnership with the UK Space Agency. This collaboration will foster opportunities for bidirectional information sharing related to threats to on orbit assets, supply chain risk and other cyber and physical threats to the space domain.” 

 

UK Space Agency’s Head of Security and Resilience, Stephen Straughan, said: “Working with the Space ISAC furthers our efforts to build international partnerships, leverage industry capabilities and embed security as a core principle of the growth of the UK space sector. This valuable partnership will undoubtedly enhance our collective efforts to ensure a safe, secure, and resilient space environment for all.” 

 

By combining knowledge, Space ISAC and the UK Space Agency aim to secure global space through information sharing and collaboration. 

 

Looking ahead, Space ISAC and the UK Space Agency are eager to leverage this collaborative opportunity. Together, we aspire to drive industry innovation, address key challenges, and foster growth in the global space industry. This milestone will serve as a catalyst to harness momentum and fuel further progress in securing global space. 

 

BACKGROUND 

 

Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) is a 501(c)(6) organization that serves as the all-threats security information source for the public and private space sector. Founded in 2019, Space ISAC became an official member of the National Council of ISACs in 2020. The Space ISAC Watch Center achieved initial operational capability in March 2023. 

 

Space ISAC is located at the Kevin W O’Neil Cybersecurity Research and Education Building at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The Space ISAC serves to facilitate collaboration across the global space industry to enhance our ability to prepare for and respond to vulnerabilities, incidents, and threats; to disseminate timely and actionable information among member entities; and to serve as the primary communications channel for the sector with respect to this information. After opening the Watch Center in 2023, member services include support for response, mitigation, and resilience initiatives, while breaking down communication silos of public-private information sharing. 

 

Space ISAC founding members include: Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: KTOS), Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH),  MITRE, SES, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), Purdue University, the Space Dynamics Laboratory, the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, The Aerospace Corporation, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, MicrosoftL3Harris, Deloitte and Capella Space.
